A Day in the Life

Have you read this?  Gwyneth Paltrow (whom I adore, by the way) let us know just how stressful and exhausting her day is.  I mean, how does one schedule in a wardrobe fitting, dance aerobics and band practice?  Sheesh.

I am sure her intentions are good.  But for some of us (ahem, me) it's a bit degrading.  If she thinks her days are rough, let's talk about mine for one minute.

I work.  Full time.  From home.  With no nanny.  With two toddlers.  Who don't like to sleep at night.

I throughly enjoy most of my time at home.  I get to cook for my kids, play with them, take them to mommy & me classes, and I have yet to miss any of their milestones.  But the life of a stay at home mom/ small business owner is less than glamourous.  The line in Gwyneth's paragraph that actually had me laughing out loud was her complaint about taking a quick shower.

What's that?  You had time to shower?  That sounds nice.

Can I offer some real advice on finding a balance between work and life?  Enjoy both when you are in the moment.  Don't try to think about work while playing blocks with your son.  Don't worry about how much your daughter ate for lunch while trying to balance your checking account.  Live in the moment and the moments will be special.
