Yesterday was Lars' third birthday - on 1.11.11 - and I should have done something cool. But December was a crazy month - the book launched, there was Christmas - and time to plan something fun totally escaped me. I have major mother's guilt over the whole thing.
Instead I threw a small family gathering. And by family I still mean almost 20 people. Since Lars is totally obsessed with Toy Story (1 & 2 but not 3 - it has a scary monkey) we made it a theme and stuck characters on the cake (made from scratch, of course) and ordered "Pizza Planet" pizza.
Super simple. And he loved it. And my guilt was assuaged by Jordan at O Happy Day who had a very low key party for her son as well. It feels good to know that even the most clever girls have to take a break once in a while.
Pearl's first birthday in February is going to be OVER-THE-TOP however. Stay tuned for that!
