Inspiration :: RISD Graduate Thesis Show

Perhaps the coolest part of my sister's graduation was the Graduate Thesis show on display in the convention center.  The amount of talent coming out of that school is remarkable - and the ingenuity of the students was really inspiring.

Here are a few of my favorite.

The bike is specially designed so a small table and two chairs fit in the front compartment.  Clever!  Plus the color is so fabulous.

These are made of caulk.  Like caulking compound that you use to seal in cracks around windows and stuff.  Caulk.  Have you ever used caulk?  Do you know how hard it is to make perfect?  These looked like lace and they were stunning.

The most fabulous chair ever.  I spent a really long time by this guy's work.  All of his furniture is beautiful, but there is a special place in my heart for chairs.  This one is perfect.  I would love to have it.

The same artist who created the chair above also created this table.  It's held up by tension and has interchangeable table tops in glass, concrete, and felt.  So cool.  If I'm going to buy any of his work, now is the time - RISD already bought two of his benches!

These were a part of the Industrial Design display and they are genius.  The designer called them 'Stick-lets' with the purpose of "connecting urban children with nature."  My son would go bonkers for these!  They literally 'tie' together branches so you can make cool forts and stuff.  Love this!
