First Day of Summer!
Today is the first day of summer and it's looking like a lovely day! The kids and I are outside now, playing with sidewalk chalk, and I have plans to spend the rest of the day outdoors as well. There are lots of ways to celebrate today
:: Washington Strawberries are in season! They arrived in Metropolitan Market stores this last weekend and are delicious. I can't tell you how many things you can do with strawberries that are amazing. You can just leave them alone and eat them up that way too. But it's so fun to do something special, try these
- Strawberry Lemonade
- Strawberry Shortcake
- Strawberry Martini
- Strawberry Muffins
:: Throw something on the grill and let it sizzle. Think outside of the box with this one and do something interesting.
:: Mrs. Lilien's Summer Isle Shoppe launched today featuring a handful of 'must haves' for the summer
:: Bake something in a canning jar. It's the perfect way to bring a little summer to everyone you know. Ok, maybe not everyone you know, but pie filling with a crust on top is really easy (especially if you buy the crust). Let cool, screw on the lid and hand out to friends - or just serve for dinner tonight. I'm trying strawberry rhubarb!
:: Make a few spiral streamers and hang them on the back deck - or the front for that matter!
Remember that it's just as important to your family to celebrate everyday - not just the big occasions. It's the little things everyday that they remember.
