Bookalicious :: Graham Kerr's Cooking at the Speed of Life

I love Graham Kerr.  Love.  You can read more about how much I love him here.  And you can read his new book Growing at the Speed of Life and love him too by buying it here.

The book is so great.  Not only does it include information on plants to grow and recipes to go with said plants, but it also has little antidotes from an amazing life of food.  Like knowing that Danny Kaye had a giant wok that fit into a large gas flame.

I am a believer that the best food is fresh food.  And the freshest food is food you grow.  It's so nice to see that same belief reflected in Mr. Kerr's book.  Given how genuine he is in his writing and in the passion I saw when I met him (did I mention I met him?) I can only assume that this is exactly how he lives his life.  It's incredibly inspiring.

He actually lives in the Northwest - in Mount Vernon, Washington - and shares all of the details about plants to choose for our weather and how to deal with bugs, etc. in our area.  There are also things that I have never thought about growing in my garden that he talks about, like chickpeas.  I'm excited to try some new things with Mr. Kerr's guidance.

I have been studying the book endlessly and can't wait to compare what I have already planted to what Mr. Kerr recommends.  I hope I didn't screw too much up!  The good news is that we both buy seeds from the same place - Territorial Seed Company.  Hooray for small victories!
