In our area only a handful of houses are for sale and none of them are houses we want to live in. I'm told the next few months will be better. But while I was looking at houses I had a major style realization.
I like funky.
My favorite house had an awesome roman brick fireplace that spanned the whole wall. The classic early '60's fireplace with no mantle and that metal screen that pulls across. Loved it. But it was inside of a split level. No offense if you live in one, but I cannot.
Then, since nothing I could afford/liked was for sale I started looking outside of what I could afford and into what I could never in a billion years afford. And that was when the lightbulb went off. The houses in the $12-14 million dollar range are beautiful but I don't want to live in one.
Here's what $12,000,000 can buy you - don't get me wrong, I think we could live in the closet and be just fine. It's just not my style.
That's the closet - and yep, that's a TV.
I think this is better than the gym I belong to. Given that there is also a full size basketball court I'm guessing one of our local basketball players used to live here - when we used to have a basketball team.
If you are in the market for something in the $12,000,000 range - this is a keeper. Its on an acre in one of the loveliest gated communities in Seattle and - in addition to a full basketball court - it has a pool, hot tub, pool house, gym, etc. Loads of bedrooms and bathrooms as well, so you can host all of the family gatherings, and an amazing gourmet kitchen so you can cook all of the family dinners. But I guess if you are spending $12,000,000 for a house you could probably spring for a chef.

If you know of anything cool and funky, let me know. Oh, and it HAS to be a fixer-upper. I have no desire to move into someone else's remodel :)
