Did I tell you I'm teaching a cooking class in Ballard at Dish it Up! tomorrow night? Probably not because the class filled up super fast. I couldn't believe it!
I'm calling it "Fore and Aft" because the best part of any meal is the appetizer and the dessert. My dad wanted to open a restaurant at one point called "Fore and Aft" that only served appetizers and desserts. It's kind of what Walrus and Carpenter does - which could be why that's one of my favorite restaurants. I'm cooking two appetizers and one dessert. And since I'm getting there SUPER early I may make one extra appetizer just to have on the counter when everyone arrives.
Here's the menu - and all of the recipes are in the book. The guests tomorrow night even get a copy of my book with their class! Fun!
Pesto Gorgonzola
Gwen's Crab Cakes
Lemon Pannacotta
And we are making crafts too. I do so much more than just cook. And by so much more, I mean craft too. And it gets lost when every event is a cooking event. So I talked the ladies at Dish it Up! into letting me do a few crafts as well.
We're going to make Monogrammed Napkin Rings - I'm prepping them today with everyone's initials so they are personalized when they are done without the labor intensive part of the craft. And we're making Square Flower arrangements. Also, prepping those today with cut Oasis, ribbons and tiny vases. I have to get to the floral wholesaler so I don't forget about the green spider mums we are using!
I'll take tons of pictures. And by "I" I mean Kirstin will. We'll be sure to post them on Friday morning so you can see how much fun we had and you'll want to sign up for the next one - because I'm sure there will be a next one!! :)
My book will be on sale at the Ballard Dish it Up! so you can grab a copy when you are there. Hope to see you soon
The picture on top is Lemon Pannacotta by Jeff Hobson - are you dying? I'll be eating that tomorrow night! The bottom image is a square flower arrangement. Beyond simple and so cute!

Awesome! These are the kinds of things you're supposed to tell me on the phone.
