A few weeks ago I received a book in the mail. I'd seen the press release, but I have been a little distracted (new babies will do that to you) and hadn't paid a lot of attention. But thanks to the spare time I now have as I sit and nurse I have been able to actually read the book. IT'S FABULOUS!
Called The Recipe Project, the book is a random assortment of recipes and musings on food. At first glance, a little weird because the recipes have nothing in common. Except that they are by chefs you know like Mario Batali and Tom Colicchio. Then you get to the end of the book and you discover the good part. The music.
That's right, the music. One Ring Zero turned all of the recipes into songs. Every part of the recipe. Mario Batali's polka inspired recipe for Spaghetti with Sweet 100 Tomatoes starts off with "Kosher salt, 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil..." I love it.
Each chef got to choose what type of music they wanted their recipe to be sung in. John Besh (of New Orleans fame) went with a tune that sounds like it could be played on any street corner in the French Quarter while Michael Symon choose punk rock. So the CD is a riot too because it's so varied.
The book isn't available until October. You can pre-order the book here online. Maybe we'll do a giveaway and let you have my copy. Any interest?
