Vegetable Garden :: May

Due to extenuating circumstances (a huge belly) I haven't been in the garden as much as I would like to be.  It's also tricky with two kids who's version of "help" is not entirely helpful.  Lucky for me, the weather has been a bit spotty, so planting much earlier would have been pointless.

This last weekend, we got the garden planted!  We had already planted peas and carrots and they are growing beautifully.  The peas have fabulous blossoms forming - which will soon be peas!  And the carrots had to be thinned so the tiny plants can turn into giant carrots.

We're headed to Rhode Island for a few days to see my sister receive her masters degree from RISD and I can't wait to see what the seeds have done when we get back!

Napa carrots are my favorite, but we also planted purple and white carrots!

Rows are marked with rocks and labeled with metal labels.  They are really the only ones to use because a ball point pen leaves a shadow behind which can still be read after months of rain and watering.
