Dreaming of Green :: Dream House

We are one step closer to having a new house.  Which means one step closer to a new project.  And I have been thinking of what I want to do in the house to make it our own.  It needs new carpet and new paint, but that's not very exciting.  Because it's a pretty raw space, I have the opportunity to do some cool things.  But I don't want to make the same mistake I made in our present house and get over excited decorating - then end up painting everything white a year later.

I have a ton of green in our current house and it seems to be one of the few colors that I have never tired of.    Over the past few years I have seen more and more done with green in cool shades and cool applications.  It seems one of my favorite designers, Miles Redd, also likes green because his spaces have been a huge inspiration in guiding what I want to create in our new house.

Mr. Hedin will never approve.

This is actually more of what I'm thinking - mostly white with green accents.  And I just saw some really cool laquered stools that I could do in green and have at the kitchen counter. Then, when I change my mind, I'll be able to easily switch out to something different.

I am not a formal decorator or trained as a designer.  But I know what I love.  I'm also not trained as a chef, but I know how to make good food.  As we begin our journey of moving into our new house and personalizing the space, I hope you join me.  I know we'll make mistakes but, since we have entirely renovated a house before, I know in the end it will be something that we will be proud of - and that we can raise our ever growing family in.

I will be documenting our projects here - the good and the bad.  The house doesn't close for a few weeks, when it does I'll share before pictures and show you what we had to do immediately.  Until then, I thought I'd show you what I want to do in the house and my inspiration.  I've discovered that when I have a plan - or at least a concept - the whole process is much smoother.  Flying by the seat of my pants has only benefitted the Goodwill - every silly thing I have purchased has ended up there.
